Project Consultant- Peer Observer

 

Position Description:   

As part of a grant, Peer Observers work as RMC Research consultants with identified teachers in the New York City schools who have received unsatisfactory evaluations.  Consultants conduct classroom observations, develop Individualized Professional Development Plans and produce written reports of the observations with assessments of teaching and learning that may be potentially introduced in court hearings.

Qualifications:   

Candidates must

  • be retired teachers from an urban or suburban school district;
  • be retired at least one full calendar year if teaching experience was within the New York City Department of Education;
  • possess a Masters Degree or higher in education and/or their subject area;
  • have completed a minimum of ten (10) years of successful teaching in a public or private K-12 school of students with high needs;
  • have experience in providing professional development to teachers in their school or district;
  • provide evidence of exemplary teaching service;
  • possess excellent interpersonal and writing skills.
