Early Childhood Professional Development

  • Parent Education Profile and Parent Support for Children’s Learning- This series of workshop sessions introduces participants to the use of the  Parent Education Profile (PEP), a curriculum and assessment framework.  The PEP is a way to organize instruction for parents in support of children’s literacy development as well as keep track of the parents’  progress. Participants learn which parenting behaviors lead to stronger  outcomes for children and how to engage parents in those activities.

Audiences: parent and early childhood coordinators, social workers,  family assistants

  • Language Development in the Very Young Child- This series of sessions provides a research foundation for those working  with infants and toddlers in the area of language development. The sessions provide the opportunity to learn about research findings and  then practice application.

  • Language and Literacy in Action: the Preschool Years- This series of sessions provides a research foundation for those working  with children ages three to five in the areas of language and literacy  development. The sessions are geared to early childhood program administrators and supervisors to learn about the most current research and then develop program improvements. Audiences: early childhood coordinators, lead teachers

  • Administrator/Coach Seminar: Research Foundations in K-3 Literacy Development for Instructional Improvement*- This series of seminar sessions introduces those in leadership positions to  the highlights of scientific research about literacy at the primary grade  level. The seminars highlight the tenets of evidence-based instruction in  the various domains of literacy to enable participants to observe teaching and guide instructional improvements.

Audiences: school and district administrators, coaches, lead teachers
