SchoolSourceNYC - Answers for New York City Families  was launched at the Second Annual Back to School Kickoff by the New York City Department of Education Office for Family Engagement and Advocacy in partnership with RMC Research, New York.  SchoolSourceNYC offers a wealth of resources for families to promote an active, effective and informed family-school partnership to help children succeed and thrive in the New York City schools all housed on an interactive Web site. Here you’ll find  family friendly resources  in modules including foundation sheets and tip sheets to videos and podcasts produced with Thirteen/WNET.ORG.

Topics cover anything from Navigating the High School Admissions Process to Making the Most of Parent-Teacher Conferences. SchoolSourceNYC has materials in a variety of formats - print and multimedia - in order to reach all NYC families.  In addition, all the resources are developed into Discussion Guides  - useful for Parent Associations, PTAs, Parent Coordinators, Social Workers, Family Assistants and Community Based Organizations. These Discussion Guides are offered free and downloadable to help you engage families in conversation at trainings or workshops. Products that accompany these discussion guides include foundation sheets, tip sheets, videos, podcasts and some narrated PowerPoint presentations.

Print Products

• Foundation Sheets are like research spotlights and provide a comprehensive overview of the school-related topic outlined with facts, useful information  and resources for families.
• Tip Sheets communicate key messages and provide general information on specific topics important to families. The tip sheets include information on where families can go for additional information. 
• Discussion Guides and Handouts are scripted training activities  developed for each of the topics which include easy to read handouts for families.

• Videos include interviews and case studies covering current issues for New York City families available online for streaming and download. A great resource to start a discussion group or share extra information with families.  
• Podcasts with Audio interviews and conversations with current information relating to the New York City schools available online for streaming or for download. Perfect to download and listen to during your morning or evening commute!
• Narrated PowerPoints available on select topics to extend their learning in specific areas for use in training activities or for online learning.
